At WaterBear, experiences within the music industry are at the core of all we do. Through our many partners and contacts, our incredible careers and industry team are continuously seeking new and exciting opportunities to help students build connections, and support their chosen pathway into the industry.
At WaterBear, students and alumni have access to a variety of careers advice, mentoring and work experience opportunities. We work with our many music industry partners to create opportunities based on the interests and career goals of each student. Career development is very important to us, and we strive to support students in building a solid list of contacts and a rich portfolio whilst studying at WaterBear and beyond.
Every musician at WaterBear is offered regular work experience opportunities across a broad range of areas - performing at events to interning at successful record labels through to working at festivals. We regularly update our job opportunities board which students can access via Canvas, our online learning portal, and alumni can access via Discord. These valuable opportunities will enable students to build industry contacts and arm them with invaluable skills and experience within areas such as:
· Social media and marketing
· Live events and festivals
· Sound engineering and production
· Teaching
· Record labels
· Performance and session musician opportunities
At WaterBear students receive mentoring to receive guidance and support from mentors aligned to their interests and careers goals. Mentors are music industry professionals who will help students evaluate their strengths and weaknesses and work with them in planning an individual career path to help them achieve their goals. Students can also book 1-1 personalised career advice and discuss areas such as work experience, internships, and how to best present their CV and portfolio.
