If you want to push yourself as a songwriter, you’ll need to know about various methods and devices to unlock your creativity. That’s why learning in small groups is important, where you are given the space and time to apply these methods and hone your own technique and approach, in order to reach your full potential.
Songwriters at WaterBear will get to explore many different approaches to the various aspects of songwriting and composition. Creative spark, lyric writing, music theory, structure and arrangement, rhythm, melody and harmony, together with pre- and post-production techniques all form part of what you’ll be learning. And the WaterBear campus buildings have been designed in such a way to unlock each person’s creativity and musical potential. Check out our roster of tutors and mentors too, all professionals with incredible CVs who are there to help you achieve your goals.
If you write on a particular instrument and can bring that with you, that’s great. Inspiration can happen at any time, and you’ll want to be able to seize the moment. Being able to record to a reasonable standard at home is also particularly useful. You’ll also have access to musical instruments at the college, and free rehearsal and recording time in professional recording studios too.
At WaterBear, we’re proud to work with some of the industry’s most accomplished music professionals. Tutors and mentors who are all highly experienced at every level of the music industry, alongside our visiting faculty who bring their wealth of experience in the form of in-class masterclasses and Q&A’s sessions throughout the year. As working professionals, the tutoring and visiting faculty team may be subject to occasional change and availability may vary.
Music industry guest visits take place throughout the year, showcasing some of the best artists and innovators in today’s music. Our guest programme varies each year and some of our recent guests are shown below.
Today we’re recapping a fantastic experience from last weekend; the world-famous @abbeyroadstudios opened its doors for Amplify, a two-day event packed with masterclasses and panels hosted by some of the industry’s leading professionals. It was held in the iconic studios Two and Three, which were famously used to record hit albums by The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Oasis, Adele and many more. A group of WaterBears were lucky enough to attend, both in person and online, and soak up the history of this iconic building!
