FUNDING YOUR MUSIC DEGREE
Courses at WaterBear are approved for UK government tuition fee loans. We also offer payment options and plans for those wanting to self-fund. The finance team at WaterBear is on hand to help you navigate the process of ensuring your finances are in place in time for the start of your course and can advise you on how to make the most of your finances whilst you’re studying.
COURSE TUITION FEES
Please find details of the current tuition fees across our range of BA (Hons) and master’s degree courses for entry in 2027. Tuition fees are set annually and are subject to review each year. Falmouth University may therefore raise tuition fees in the second or subsequent years of a course, in line with inflation and/or the maximum permitted by law or UK Government policy. Tuition fees for 2027
The UK Government has announced that tuition fees for undergraduate on campus home students will increase by £260 for the academic year beginning in September 2027, rising from £9,790 to £10,050 per year. https://www.falmouth.ac.uk/study/tuition-fees/undergraduate
APPLYING FOR STUDENT LOANS
All courses at WaterBear are listed for UK government student loan funding and UK residents may be eligible for undergraduate and postgraduate tuition fee loans. We also offer payment options and plans for those wanting to self-fund.
Important note:
Sudents who are ordinarily resident in Wales: Please be aware that as undergraduate courses at WaterBear have specific designation with the Welsh Government, you may only be able to access up to £6,525 in tuition fee support. Living cost support and Disabled Students’ Allowance should still be available for students on both on-campus or online courses. Please contact [email protected] for further guidance.

Student finance for undergraduates – GOV.UK

Eligible UK students may be able to access government student finance to help fund their undergraduate studies. Funding arrangements vary depending on where a student normally lives in the UK. (From January 2027, the new Lifelong Learning Entitlement (LLE) scheme will provide financial support for eligible higher education in England.)
Tuition Fee Loans may be available to help cover the cost of course fees, while Maintenance Loans or other financial support may be available to help with living costs such as rent, food, travel and study materials. The amount of support available may depend on your household income and personal circumstances.
Maintenance loans to help with living costs (e.g., rent, food, equipment, etc.) may also be available to those studying the 3-year and 4-year BA (Hons) programmes. Please note:
- Students who are ordinarily resident in Wales should be aware that undergraduate courses at the WaterBear are not currently designated to receive statutory student funding support from the Welsh Government.
- Students ordinarily resident in Northern Ireland, should contact our Admissions office for guidance on funding options.

Postgraduate funding is generally available to eligible UK students, although the funding arrangements vary depending on where the student normally lives in the UK. In England, the Postgraduate Master’s Loan is a single, non-means-tested loan paid directly to the student, which can be used towards tuition fees and living costs.
Additional funding may be available if you have dependents. The Adult Dependants’ Grant is for students who have another adult financially dependent on them. The Childcare Grant is funding specifically to cover childcare expenses whilst studying, and the Parents’ Learning Allowance helps parents pay for course expenses such as books, study materials and travel costs. All grants are means-tested (based on household income).

International students who have settled status in the UK may also be eligible for government student finance , dependant on their status and programme of study they are undertaking.
