All applicants interested in studying a course at WaterBear will be invited to take part in a 1-1 session either in person or by video conference, which is an essential part of the application process. This is where you get the chance to show us your passion for music and why you’re interested in coming to WaterBear. It’s also a great opportunity for you to find out all about WaterBear and ask us any questions, so that you are fully informed to make the right choice about where to study.
Our Open Days are relaxed and informal and provide you with the opportunity to find out everything you need to know about WaterBear. THROWBACK! It’s been a year to the day since our first event in Sheffield - our launch party in August 2022 - featuring @thecocouk + @iamlamour_ , @bangbangromeo, @bloom_sheffield_ , @harri_larkin, and @lilyknott feat. @kaynceemusic. Since then we held open days at the wonderful @sidneyandmatilda, worked hard building the Sheffield campus, and then had our official opening party in April 2023, featuring Coco cutting the ribbon, @iamadmt, Harri Larkin, @kid_blu3e, and @yourvoicenotes.
The final date of importance is 18th September - when we officially open our Sheffield campus doors to YOU, our first cohort!

The @tramlines Apply To Play portal is now LIVE, and this year WaterBear have been invited onto their panel of tastemakers!
Once you’ve submitted your application via their website, the Tramlines team and panel will shortlist artists and bands, which are then put forward to a public vote. The Finalists with the most votes will go on to perform a PAID SLOT at Tramlines 2023. The top Artists and Bands will then be sent to a music industry legend (more TBA) who will choose the winner of Apply to Play 2023.
So what are you waiting for, get applying!
The Winner of the 2023 Apply to Play Competition receives:
* £500 worth of rehearsal + recording studio credits at Pirate Studios.
* Paid festival slot at Tramlines and the opportunity to perform at Truck Festival in Oxfordshire and Victorious Festival in Portsmouth.
* Interview feature with Exposed Magazine.
* Performance opportunity at This Feeling industry showcase event at The Social in front of music industry professionals.
The Finalists receive:
* Paid festival slot at Tramlines.
* £100 Pirate Studio credit each.
