JOIN US SEPTEMBER 2024 - APPLY TODAY OR BOOK YOUR PLACE ON ONE OF OUR OPEN DAYS IN BRIGHTON OR SHEFFIELD

As part of WaterBears expansion into new cities, we aim to foster partnerships and join forces with local organisations to help create further opportunities and experiences for young people.

Slambarz

We are pleased to welcome Slambarz, a music events initiative open to young lyricists, rappers and music producers between the ages of 14 and 25 from across Sheffield and beyond. Slambarz offers a focused outlet for young creatives to develop and showcase their skills and interests in a safe and supportive environment promoting inclusiveness, culture, and good vibes. Slambarz was founded in 2017 by Dom Heslop and his mentor Vicki Morris who runs a writing organisation called the Hive in South Yorkshire aiming to get young people out of their bedrooms into more creative spaces.

Community

Slambarz also organise and co-create youth and community projects that engage with underrepresented young people and use the creation of music and the social aspects of being a part of the music industry as a catalyst to give people work experience, performance opportunities and the ability to be a part of a community that is passionate about music, arts and creativity.

Collaboration

Slambarz collaborate with several local organisations which help to support each other's networks of young people, share information, and have regular steering group meetings to help shape creative opportunities:

· Tracks (Sheffield Music School)

· Hive South Yorkshire

· Tramlines

· The Leadmill

· Off The Shelf Festival

· Exposed Magazine

· WaterBear – The College of Music

· Waveright Studios

· The Creators Hub and

· The Element Society
