- Role: TikTok Content Creator (Freelance)
- Location: Brighton/Sheffield/Remote
- Hours of work: 14 hours per week
- Reports to: Social Media Executive
- Remuneration: £15 per hour

THE POST
We’re seeking a creative and culturally fluent TikTok Content Creator to join our in-house marketing team. You’ll be a platform-native storyteller who understands what makes people stop scrolling, someone who can turn the everyday magic of music education and student life into powerful short-form content.
This is a hands-on creative role for someone who understands TikTok inside and out; trends, humour, pacing, performance, editing, and experimentation. You’ll work both independently and with the wider marketing team to create content that captures the energy and culture of WaterBear, builds community, and pushes boundaries.
JOB PURPOSE
- To create trend-led, scroll-stopping TikTok content that builds WaterBear’s presence, personality, and following.
- To act as a digital storyteller, bringing the college’s unique culture and student experience to life.
- To deliver end-to-end content creation: ideation, filming, editing, captioning, and publishing.
MAIN DUTIES
The TikTok Content Creator will:
- Film and edit short-form video content for TikTok, using in-app tools and/or editing apps such as CapCut.
- Monitor and respond to TikTok trends daily, creating reactive content within hours.
- Write and execute strong hooks, scripts, and captions tailored to platform tone andculture.
- Collaborate with students, tutors, guest artists, and alumni to generate authentic,engaging stories.
- Showcase events, performances, and daily student life at WaterBear through creativestorytelling.
- Experiment with new formats and ideas, testing and learning what drives views,engagement, and shares.
- Align content with WaterBear’s visual identity, values, and voice – while avoiding overlycorporate tone.
- Report performance metrics (views, likes, saves, watch time) and recommend strategicchanges based on insights.
- Contribute to content planning in sync with the wider marketing and social mediacalendar.
- Engage with the TikTok community – comments, trends, duets, and creatorcollaborations.
- Organise and archive raw footage and final content for future use and reuse.

- Tracks TikTok trends, audio, and hashtags daily.
- Reacts quickly (within hours) to what’s rising.
- Adapts trends to WaterBear’s world: music, student life, performance, creativity.
2. Storytelling & Hook Writing
- Writes engaging 1–3 second hooks to stop the scroll.
- Understands how to build 15–60 second narratives that lands
3. On-Camera Presence or Direction
- Comfortable performing on camera or directing talent.
- Understands what “authentic” TikTok performance looks like: quirky, raw, real.
4. Audio-Driven Editing
- Skilled in using trending sounds, music memes, and CapCut templates.
- Edits to beat, syncs lip-syncs, and maximises sound-driven engagement.5. Platform Culture Fluency
- Knows what on TikTok and what doesn’t (cringe, overly branded, try-hard).
- Understands Gen Z slang, humour, creator culture, and sub-communities.
6. Creative Experimentation
- Brings original, TikTok-native ideas (not just Reels repurposing).
- Willing to test, fail, iterate, and adapt based on audience response.

PERSON SPECIFICATION
Essential:
- Proven experience creating TikTok content.
- Strong knowledge of platform trends and tools.
- End-to-end content creation skills.
- Creative confidence and aesthetic sensibility.
- A passion for music and/or education.
Desirable:
- Basic motion graphics or design experience (e.g., Canva, Adobe).
- Experience in a creative or educational environment.
- Familiarity with the WaterBear brand and student demographic.
- Ability to collaborate with a wide range of personalities and content contributors
