Our master’s degree courses at WaterBear aren’t one-size-fits-all; they are flexible frameworks that adapt to your practice and vision. Our master’s students come from every corner of the music industry, bringing a wide range of skills and experience. Whatever your background, you’ll be supported through expert teaching, mentoring, and guidance from music industry professionals. You’ll build confidence, take ownership of your work, and move forward with your creative and business goals. 

SUPPORT AND DEVELOPMENT

MENTORING

Throughout one-to-one mentoring, you’ll receive personalised tutor-led support for your artistic and technical growth. This may include instrumental or production techniques, performance guidance, or creative mentoring aligned with your curriculum goals.

ACADEMIC SESSIONS

You may have been out of education for a while or simply need some extra support. In one-to-one academic sessions, you’ll focus on developing your academic skills and receive guidance on written work, research skills, and assessment preparation, all designed to support your success across the written and theoretical aspects of the curriculum.

ARTIST DEVELOPMENT

Our artist development team of working artists and producers, will help you develop your artist identity, brand, release strategy, live profile, and understanding of publishing rights, revenue, and release models. They will support your career planning with a focus on real-world application and industry-facing outcomes, equipping you with the tools, strategies, and support needed to build a sustainable music career.

CAREER DEVELOPMENT

As a master’s student, you may already have a defined career path or years of experience in a particular role. You might want to build experience in a new area, deepen your practice, or refine your goals. Whatever your reasons for pursuing a master’s, our Music Industries team can guide you in various ways to help you gain the experience and support needed to move into the next stage of your career.

FACILITIES TO SUPPORT YOUR LEARNING

Master’s students at WaterBear have access to an extensive network of facilities. You can study on-site in Brighton or Sheffield, online via our virtual learning environment (VLE), or choose a hybrid approach whatever works best for you. Whether you’re joining an online class, tracking vocals in a commercial studio, or collaborating in dedicated spaces with your peers, the environment is designed to fuel your creativity and support your learning.
