If you’re a vocalist looking for a course that gives you the skills for a successful career behind the mic, then the BA (Hons) Career Musician degree course is for you.
At WaterBear, we believe in smaller class sizes for effective learning, reinforced with personal 1-1 mentoring. We also believe you should spend as much time as possible doing what you love – singing live! That’s why all vocalists on our 3-yr degree course learn in small groups and sing regularly in a real music venues.
Every week, you’ll hone vocal technique, stylistic knowledge, improvisation and stagecraft, and expand your repertoire. You’ll be performing live on stage in a real music venue with other WaterBear musicians. And you’ll learn all you need to know about the realities of being a professional artist in today’s music industry. There are also regular networking events, masterclasses, collaboration and work opportunities so you can build your all-important contacts list.
As a vocalist, we know it’s all about your personality, freedom of expression and passion. Breathing, pitching, placement and phrasing are all central to a great performance. And knowing how to best capture your voice is essential too. That’s why music tech is also a key part of the course, using our state-of-the-art Apple Mac suites. And, like every other WaterBear student, you’ll get access to all the other courses at the college, so you can dive into as much other content as you want.
All students at WaterBear get bookable access to free rehearsal and recording studio time, so you won’t need to worry about where to practice and record yourself or your band.
The BA (Hons) Career Musician degree is designed to give you the perfect blend of artistic freedom alongside practical strategies to forge your own career in music.
It’s flexible and comprehensive so you can study in a way that suits you. And you can build your own music projects into the course. It’s fully accredited and approved by one of the UK’s leading specialist universities for the creative industries, Falmouth University.
And for students studying on the 2-yr online course, you’ll also receive a £750 bursary to invest in new equipment, a Pro Tools subscription and a Slate All Access software bundle, so you can learn on your own gear.
