WaterBear offers BA (Hons) degree and master’s courses made for today’s musicians, artists and industry professionals. We’re about smaller class sizes, flexible course delivery, bespoke one-to-one mentoring, and exclusive work experience and career development opportunities. WaterBear colleges are based in the heart of Brighton and Sheffield, two vibrant UK cities with incredible musical heritage and thriving music scenes. We also offer a range of online distance learning courses too. Regardless of location, all our students benefit from small class sizes, taught by music industry professionals, and are further supported through our personal mentoring programme. You'll also receive tailored advice and support in your areas of focus via our mentoring programme.

Facilities and Learning

You’ll be taught how to refine your practise and develop your sound by accomplished music industry professionals within small classes. Teaching spaces are fitted out with state-of-the-art digital A/V technology, and you’ll learn on vintage and modern pro-standard gear such as acoustic drum kits, and industry-standard production tools in environments designed to fuel your creative output. You’ll develop your stagecraft through live performance and student led events in working music venues with other WaterBear musicians and artists, and gain free access to professional rehearsal and recording studios across our city-wide campuses in Brighton and Sheffield.

Our Story

WaterBear – The College of Music was founded by music education pioneers Adam Bushell and Bruce John Dickinson. Together they each have more than 30 years’ experience in professional music and 25 years at the highest level of music education. Their relentless dedication to supporting musicians and artists is focused on building sustainable long-term careers.

Our college is filled with professional musicians and creatives who are actively working across many areas of the industry.
