Push your music career further with exclusive resources from WaterBear.

If you’re all about the bass, then the BA (Hons) Career Musician degree at WaterBear is tailor made for you.

At WaterBear, we believe in smaller class sizes for effective learning, reinforced with personal 1-1 mentoring. We also believe you should learn on the right gear. That’s why all bass players on our 3-yr degree course learn in small groups and can plug into their own amps. And our tutors rank among the best players and educators in the UK, keen to share their knowledge with you.

Every week, you’ll hone technical skills, stylistic knowledge, improvisation and stagecraft, and expand your repertoire. You’ll be playing live on stage in a real music venue with other WaterBear musicians and artists. And you’ll learn all you need to know about the realities of being a working bassist in today’s music industry.  There are also regular networking events, masterclasses, collaboration and work opportunities so you can build your all-important contacts list.

As a bass player, it’s super-important to know how to create a great feel and lock in with the rhythm section. And knowing how to get a great sound, no matter if you’re playing live or in the studio, is essential. That’s why music tech is also a key part of the course, using our state-of-the-art Apple Mac suites. And, like every other WaterBear student, you’ll get access to all  the other courses at the college, so you can dive into as much other content as you want.

All students at WaterBear get bookable access to free rehearsal and recording studio time, so you won’t need to worry about where to practice and record yourself or your band.

The BA (Hons) Career Musician degree is designed to give you the perfect blend of artistic freedom alongside practical strategies to forge your own career in music.

It’s flexible and comprehensive so you can study in a way that suits you. And you can build your own music projects into the course. It’s fully accredited and approved by one of the UK’s leading specialist universities for the creative industries, Falmouth University.

And for students studying on the 2-yr online course, you’ll also receive a £750 bursary to invest in new equipment, a Pro Tools subscription and a Slate All Access software bundle, so you can learn on your own gear.

3-year full-time on-campus option starting September.

2-yr online accelerated option starting September and January.
